Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Statgraphics is continuously building new machine learning procedures to assist users in developing predictive models for both classification and regression purposes. Machine Learning implements artificial intelligence techniques to extract useful information from many types of datasets. Statgraphics Centurion 19.3 includes a new menu item called LEARN that accesses decision trees, decision forests, support vector machines, k-means clustering, principal components analysis, factor analysis and multidimensional scaling. When combined with the many statistical models in other sections of Statgraphics, these machine learning methods give the program a broad set of procedures for predictive modeling. More procedures are being added on a continuous basis since AI is evolving quickly.

These include sales forecasting, market analysis, actuarial science, risk assessment, customer targeting, quality control, finance, healthcare, inventory management, transportation, mining, and many other applications. New Trellis Plots in STATGRAPHICS 19.3:
Version 19.3 of Statgraphics introduces a new tool for data visualization called Trellis Plots. Trellis Plots are segmented plots that display data or fitted models for each combination of one or more conditioning variables. For example, histograms of the distribution of height among individuals might be displayed side-by-side for men and women. The plots are designed to help users visualize how data change across levels of the conditioning variables.

STATGRAPHICS Centurion is designed for anyone who wishes to do serious data analysis without investing weeks learning how to use a statistical package. It contains over 150 statistical procedures, covering everything from summary statistics to design of experiments. Yet you don’t need to be a statistician to use the program. Everything is completely menu-driven, and there are tools such as the StatWizard and StatAdvisor to help you use the program most effectively.

Statgraphics Sigma Express for Microsoft Excel
STATGRAPHICS Sigma Express is an “add-in” for Microsoft Excel that enables users to perform various calculations required when learning or applying Six Sigma. It adds a menu selection to Excel containing sections for each item of the DMAIC paradigm (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) plus additional menu items for Tools and Help. The contents are sufficient to cover the needs of yellow belts, green belts and most black belts. In addition, it is similar enough to STATGRAPHICS Centurion that users can easily upgrade to that product if they need additional statistical capabilities.
How are data selected in STATGRAPHICS Sigma Express?
Data are selected by first highlighting it in your Excel worksheet and then selecting a procedure from the STATGRAPHICS section that has been added to the Excel menu.
How are results displayed?
Results are displayed in a STATGRAPHICS analysis window with multiple panes for tables and graphs. Users may interact with the graphs to change any graphics attribute, drag existing text or add new text, zoom and pan, rotate 3D graphs, and click on points to retrieve associated data.
How are tables and graphs saved?
When satisfied with the output, it may be pasted back into the Excel worksheet or into another application such as Word or PowerPoint. It may also be sent directly to a printer or saved in an image file.
