SPSS Statistics is a program that contains a number of parts. The base program is SPSS Statistics base ( Base is including Data Preparation and Bootstrapping ) and this can be expanded with a number of functionalities. You can also choose between authorized use or concurrent use.

SPSS Statistics base is the base program that can be expanded with 3 packages. Each package contains a number of modules:

We are proud to announce the general availability of IBM SPSS Statistics 29. This release includes a new survival model procedure, open source extension procedures, UI and workbook enhancements. New procedures

Linear OLS Alternatives
Elastic Net

The new linear elastic net extension procedure estimates regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables. The graph represents example output for the procedure.

Lasso

The new linear lasso extension estimates L1 loss regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables, and includes optional modes to display trace plots and to select the alpha hyperparameter value based on cross validation. The graph represents example output for the procedure.

Ridge

The new linear ridge extension procedure estimates L2 or squared loss regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables, and includes optional modes to display trace plots and to select the alpha hyperparameter value based on cross validation. The graph represents example output for the procedure.

Parametric Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) Models

The new procedure invokes the parametric survival models procedure with non-recurrent life time data. Parametric survival models assume that survival time follow a known distribution, and this analysis fits accelerated failure time models with their model effects proportional with respect to survival time. The graph represents example output for the procedure.

Pseudo-R2 measures in Linear Mixed Models and Generalized Linear Mixed Models

Pseudo-R2 measures and the intra-class correlation coefficient are now included in Linear Mixed Models and Generalized Linear Mixed Models output (when appropriate). The coefficient of determination R2 is a commonly reported statistic, because it represents the proportion of variance explained by a linear model. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) is a related statistic that quantifies the proportion of variance explained by a grouping (random) factor in multilevel/ hierarchical data.

Command syntax
GENLINMIXED
The output now includes pseudo-R2 measures and the intra-class correlation coefficient (when appropriate).
LINEAR_ELASTIC_NET
The new extension command uses the Python sklearn.linear_model.ElasticNet class to estimate regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables.
LINEAR_LASSO
The new extension command uses the Python sklearn.linear_model.Lasso class to estimate L1 loss regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables. The command includes optional modes to display trace plots and to select the alpha hyper-parameter value that is based on cross-validation.
LINEAR_RIDGE
The new extension command uses the Python sklearn.linear_model.Ridge class to estimate L2 or squared loss regularized linear regression models for a dependent variable on one or more independent variables. The command includes optional modes to display trace plots and to select the alpha hyper-parameter value that is based on cross-validation.
MIXED
The output now includes pseudo-R2 measures and the intra-class correlation coefficient (when appropriate).
SURVREG AFT
The new extension command invokes the parametric survival models procedure with non-recurrent life time data.
Python and R upgrades
Python 3.10.4 and R 4.2.0 are installed with IBM® SPSS® Statistics 29.
Removal of ability to hide unselected cases
Unselected cases are no longer hidden in the Data Editor when a subset of cases is selected, and the unselected cases are not discarded. This represents a return to the behavior of Statistics 27.0.1 and earlier versions.
Violin plots
The Graphboard Template Chooser includes a new violin plot, which is a hybrid of the box and kernel density plots. Violin plots show peaks in the data and are used to visualize the distribution of numerical data. Unlike a box plot that can only show summary statistics, violin plots depict summary statistics and the density of each variable.

Workbook mode enhancements

Two new workbook toolbar items have been added: Show/Hide all syntax windows and Clear all output. There is also a new button on the Status bar to switch between Classic (Output and Syntax) and Workbook modes

Search enhancements

The Search feature now provides options for entering terms directly in a toolbar field and for viewing results in a drop-down pane.

U kunt kiezen uit Perpetual of Fixed term:

Fixed Term:
U kunt SPSS alleen gebruiken voor de duur van 1 jaar. Daarna houdt het op, tenzij u het gebruik ervan verlengt met nog een jaar. Ons advies : U wenst SPSS te gebruiken slechts voor een project, of als u een gegevensanalist hebt ingehuurd voor een beperkte duur. U wenst na te gaan wat de toegevoegde waarde is van SPSS, zonder nu veel te investeren. U wenst na te gaan wat de toegevoegde waarde is van SPSS, zonder veel te investeren.

Bij afname van Fixed Term zullen wij u, de klant, op tijd informeren over het verlengen van de Term met nog een jaar. U kunt dan ook kiezen voor een perpetual licentie.

Perpetual licentie:
Een perpetual licentie is een kooplicentie met een gebruiksrecht. Bij aanschaf wordt één jaar software ondersteuning, “SW Subscription & Support”, meegeleverd. U ontvangt dat jaar nieuwe versies van SPSS zonder kosten, en alle ondersteuning wordt gegeven. De licentie blijft uw eigendom, ook nadat u op een gegeven moment niet meer “SW Subscription & Support” afneemt.

Wij adviseren u een Perpetual licentie te nemen als u verwacht dat SPSS een toegevoegde waarde heeft voor uw onderneming of organisatie op de middellange of lange termijn.

U kunt kiezen uit Authorized- of Concurrent-user:

Authorized user:
Bij IBM SPSS heet dit Authorized Use licentie; algeheel bekend onder “single user licentie”. De licentie kan worden gebruikt door slechts een persoon. Een en ander is vastgelegd via een SLA, een software licentieovereenkomt.

Concurrent user:
U kunt SPSS op een server installeren, daarnaast tevens op een reeks van desktops die op de ene of andere manier zijn verbonden aan de server. Een Concurrent licentie maakt dat het gebruik van SPSS niet gebonden is aan één persoon. Meerdere medewerkers binnen een organisatie kunnen het gebruiken, en ervaringen van het werken met SPSS met elkaar delen. Concurrent gebruik kent meer mogelijkheden om het gebruik te monitoren; tevens wordt het beheer door ICT mogelijk gemaakt.
Wij adviseren u een Concurrent licentie te nemen als het aantal gebruikers meer dan één is en uw organisatie een structuur kent waar dat mogelijk is.

This Support+ is beyond the guidance that we provide when you wish to have an offer or you wish to place an order for IBM SPSS with us.

With Support+ we mean the usage of SPSS in all its aspects. All questions related to the usage of SPSS can be asked, and you will receive a reply as soon as possible. Do you have questions related to data transformation, file handling, let us know. But also for questions in the field of statistical analyses, and modelling a response variable, or multiple responses as function of a number of factors. When analysing, we have to check that the conditions have been fulfilled, such as constant variance of the residuals, and we have ways to solve these issues. Also how to interpret the outcome, and how to use the model, such as in predicting for a new observation.

This Knowledge Center is valuable for the way of using SPSS, the use of the syntax, the usage of options, and often it refers to a “Detailed Example”.
